How strong of a connection do you have with your subject matter and can you describe that connection?
Delgado-Ureña: I always try to work on stories that are, in some way, connected to my own culture. As a Spaniard, I’m lucky, our Iberian heritage runs deep, and that allows me to find links, echoes, and narratives in many different parts of the world. That cultural thread often becomes the bridge between my personal perspective and the stories I tell.
What are your recurring themes? Why?
Delgado-Ureña: The relationship between the people and a territory. How people shape a landscape and how a landscape shapes them back. That’s why I’m often drawn to remote places, borders, or regions with deep historical layers. I’m fascinated by how culture persists, transforms, and sometimes vanishes. Memory, identity, and resilience, those are always there in some form, even if I don’t consciously plan for them.
