France Leclerc

Originally from Canada and now based in Chicago, I am a street and documentary photographer drawn to the quiet poetry of everyday life. After years in academia studying human behavior, I turned to photography as another way of asking the same questions—through light, gesture, and shared space rather than words.

I often think of my work as “life photography,” attentive to small, unscripted moments where people live, connect, worship, celebrate, and endure. Increasingly, I find these moments in the street, where nothing is staged and everything is vulnerable to interruption. It is there, amid unpredictability and tenderness, that I feel closest to what is real.

My work has been exhibited internationally, including most recently at the LensCulture Exhibition in New York City (2024), the Brussels Street Photography Festival (2025), the Dublin Street Photography Festival (2025), Women Street Photographers (2025), the Siena International Photo Awards (2025), and the American Center for Photographers (2025). My images have appeared in GEO Magazine (Germany), EyeShot Magazine, Dodho Magazine, Lens Magazine, and All About Photo.
