Heidi Alexander

Although born and raised in Switzerland, I have called Scotland my home since 1969. Documentary photography has always been my main form of expression and for thirty years I used my father’s Leica M4. “The Stockport Collection” work emerged from the nine rolls of film I shot in 1976 and 1977 which I only re-discovered in early 2020.

After a piece in The Guardian, coverage in various press including the BBC and a solo exhibition, some Stockport images are now part of the permanent collection of the Stockport Museum and with private collectors in London, NYC and California. I continue to enjoy traveling and pursuing all forms of documentary photography with a digital camera. “The Stockport Collection” book is currently in its 2nd edition.
