THE RAW SOCIETY

Founded in 2016 by photographers and educators Jorge Delgado-Ureña and Christelle Enquist Gomila, The Raw Society (a registered non-profit organization) has been pioneering new ways to bring together professionals and enthusiasts of street, travel, and documentary photography.

What began as a response to the traditional divide between “amateur” and “pro” has grown into a thriving global community of over 350 members across 35+ countries, united by a shared dedication to storytelling, learning, and connection. Through 80+ workshops worldwide, three award-winning issues of The Raw Society Magazine, and a fast-growing YouTube channel with 28,000+ subscribers, The Raw Society has created spaces where photography is lived, not just seen.

The launch of Raw Photo Fest is the natural next step in this journey: an international meeting point where photographers and audiences come together to celebrate the narrative power of images. In line with our mission, the festival covers the costs of each and every exhibition, ensuring that artists are supported and their work is given the platform it deserves. This commitment reflects what drives us as an organization: championing photographers, fostering community, and promoting photography as a vital form of storytelling.

Raw Photo Fest is not just our festival, it’s the community’s festival. A place where images, people, and stories converge in the heart of Menorca.

Christelle Enquist – President & Co-Founder

Christelle Enquist is a Spanish-Swedish photographer, educator, and co-founder of The Raw Society. Raised in Singapore and fluent in four languages, she approaches photography as a universal language and a way of engaging with people, place, and culture beyond words.

A graduate of Parsons School of Design, Christelle spent over a decade working in advertising before stepping away to travel solo—a turning point that reshaped her creative path and led her to photography as a long-term practice.

In 2016, she co-founded The Raw Society, where she plays a central role in its vision, educational programming, and global community. She teaches workshops internationally and mentors photographers in visual storytelling and color. She is also Editor-in-Chief of The Raw Society Magazine.

Her work has been exhibited internationally, including in Australia, the United States, Belgium, and Nepal, and was featured in Women Street Photographers (Penguin Random House, 2021). In 2024, a large retrospective of her work was presented in Menorca, bringing together photographs made across multiple countries over several years of sustained work.

Jorge Delgado-Ureña – Director of Photography & Co-Founder

Jorge Delgado Ureña is a photographer, writer, and educator, and Director of Photography and co-founder of The Raw Society. His work is rooted in documentary storytelling, personal narrative, and the philosophy of presence, guiding photographers toward a more intentional and meaningful creative practice.

With almost two decades of travel and fieldwork across regions including Iraqi Kurdistan, Oaxaca, Nepal, Morocco, and Ukraine, Jorge’s photography explores themes of identity, culture, ritual, and the human experience during moments of transition or conflict. His photographs have been published in several local and international magazines, including National Geographic, Ijsberg Magazine, and La Vanguardia, among others. His work has been exhibited at venues such as El Colegio de Periodistas in Barcelona, LensCulture, and The Independent Photographer in Berlin, with a recent retrospective showcased in Menorca.

He teaches workshops around the world and has mentored hundreds of photographers in authorship, visual storytelling, editing, and the development of a personal point of view. Beyond his photographic work, Jorge is an established writer whose essays blend travel narrative with creative philosophy and reflective commentary on the role of the photographer today. His writing appears on Substack, in interviews, and throughout the educational materials of The Raw Society.

Mei Seva – Editorial & Communications Manager

Mei Seva is a photographer and the Editorial & Communications Manager of The Raw Society. She brings over 8 years of experience working with non-profits and in the creative field, and is committed to supporting photographers through their work and continuing to build community through various initiatives.

She graduated from Hampshire College with a B.A. in Peace and Conflict Studies and Art and is a current M.F.A candidate in Visual Arts at Columbia University in New York City. Her research-driven practice incorporates photography, film, and archival research to visualize contested histories and social and political myths. Her practice falls into the post-documentary space, incorporating lyrical visual storytelling and personal narratives into long-term projects.

She was a 2024 Lucie Foundation Finalist in Photojournalism/Documentary – Emerging Photographers and selected for the 2025 NYFA Immigrant Artist Mentoring Program. Her work has been exhibited at First Street Gallery (NYC), Gallery 114 (Portland, Oregon), the Sawmill River Arts Gallery (Massachusetts), Boomer Gallery (London), Janice Charach Gallery (Michigan), and more. In 2022, Seva was an Amherst Arts Council grantee and created an outdoor public art installation sharing refugee stories through photography.

Sara Dalel – Communications Assistant

Sara Dalel is a strategic designer working across communication, storytelling, and community-centered projects, collaborating with environmental and social NGOs to translate complex realities into meaningful narratives.

At Raw Photo Fest, she supports communications and storytelling, helping shape the voice of the festival and how it connects with its audience.

Her relationship with photography began at home and continued through her university years, where it became part of her design practice. Rooted in travel, memory, and observation, she approaches the image as a way to connect with places, cultures, and the subtle details that often go unnoticed.
