Born in France and living much of his life in Paris, Wayan Barre now lives in New Orleans, Louisiana. Self-taught, he began taking photographs to cover the news in France as a freelance photographer.
Particularly sensitive to social and environmental issues, he has worked on various projects, documenting communities often marginalized and left over. He believes that a picture is worth a thousand words.
His work has been published in magazines and newspapers in France: Libération, ArMen, Opérations Spéciales.
He is a member of the French agency Collectif DR, The Raw Society, and AFP as a stringer. He also provides commercial and corporate work to clients worldwide.
